WAM BAM 2011 – registrations now open!

by wanimate on June 14th, 2011

WAM BAM is the exciting, intensive, and fun 48-hour speed animation competition run by WAnimate, the Western Australian Animation Association.

This unique competition pits several teams against each other in an all-out battle to cook up the most imaginative animated film they can, within an incredibly challenging deadline.

Each team of up to five participants draws three random words from a hat. These words are used as a springboard to inspire the rapid brainstorming of creative story ideas. Participants can register as teams, or as individuals to be matched up into a team.

Armed with these ideas and using supplied hardware, software, and facilities, teams enter a flurry of frantic concept art, crazed character design, manic set building, and all manner of technical wizardry – culminating in the production of a short (and often hilarious) animated film.

A public screening is held on the last night for all team members, family, friends, supporters, and industry representatives. Awards are given out by both a panel of judges and popular vote. Final films will also be made available through the WAnimate website with many participants also including their films on showreels.
