WAM BAM

WAM BAM is the exciting, intensive, and fun 48-hour speed animation competition run by WAnimate, the Western Australian Animation Association.

This unique competition pits several teams against each other in an all-out battle to cook up the most imaginative animated film they can, within an incredibly challenging deadline.

Each team of up to five participants draws three random words from a hat. These words are used as a springboard to inspire the rapid brainstorming of creative story ideas.

Armed with these ideas and using supplied hardware, software, and facilities, teams enter a flurry of frantic concept art, crazed character design, manic set building, and all manner of technical wizardry – culminating in the production of a short and often hilarious, animated film.

A public screening is held on the last night for all team members, family, friends, supporters, and industry representatives. Awards are given out by both a panel of judges and popular vote. Final films will also be made available through the WAnimate website with many participants also including their films on showreels.

Copyright of the films created stays with the team that creates them (we suggest each team nominate a producer) but WAnimate retains the right to use the films to help promote WAM BAM, WAnimate, and animation in WA.
