WAM BAM – this weekend!

by wanimate

This year’s extensive WAM BAM prize pool includes hundreds of dollars-worth of art and animation products, including training DVDs from Hollywood’s Gnomon Workshop, art books from Ballistic Publishing, animation training bibles from Disney and Richard Williams, Wacom drawing tablets, and limited edition DVD sets of Shaun Tan’s Academy Award-winning film, The Lost Thing.

ABOUT WAM BAM

WAM BAM is the exciting, intensive, and fun 48-hour speed animation competition run by WAnimate, the Western Australian Animation Association.

This unique competition pits several teams against each other in an all-out battle to cook up the most imaginative animated film they can, within an incredibly challenging deadline.

Each team of up to five participants draws three random words from a hat. These words are used as a springboard to inspire the rapid brainstorming of creative story ideas. Participants can register as teams, or as individuals to be matched up into a team.

A public screening and catered networking event is held on Sunday night, with awards are given out by both a panel of judges and popular vote. Final films will also be made available through the WAnimate website with many participants also including their films on showreels.

When:
6pm to 11pm Friday 15th July – teams meet, get their theme words, plan & start animating
9am to 11pm Saturday 16th July – animating!
9am to 6pm Sunday 17th July – furious animating and finishing off projects
Public screening, networking, and prize presentation at 7pm, Sunday 17th July

Where: West Coast Institute of Training, 35 Kendrew Crescent, Joondalup (Room A104).
