WAnimate was formed in 2006 by a group of animators who felt that the small but growing Western Australian animation industry required a representative body.

WAnimate aims to provide a central point of connection for animators based in Western Australia. Through WAnimate, animators can find support and access a wide range of skills development. We aim to link animators to those employing or funding animators and direct them to (as well as provide) animation training and seminars, of all specialisations.

Some of the things we do:
  • WAnimate Talks - events and workshops for professional development and networking
  • WAM BAM - a 48 hour speed animation competition
  • Animation Writers Group - a peer support group for people interested in creating and writing for animation concepts
  • The Tom Lubin Award - to acknowledge an individual or team who has done something great in animation in WA
  • This website - pointing people in the right direction: WA animators towards information and others to WA animators
  • Lobbying - representing animators and animation to government agencies and similar

... and much more. If you would like a taste of the creativity of our local animators, visit our WA Shorts page.

The WAnimate Committee is made up of volunteers from the animation industry, and we have several levels of Membership available - Student, Regular and Corporate. We are always looking for new people to help make things happen. To get involved email wanimate (at) gmail (dot) com.
