WAM BAM

WAM BAM is a challenge to the WA animation community to create great animated films from scratch over a weekend (friday evening to Sunday evening) of team work and ideas sharing.

WAM BAM is a team event - You do not need to come as a team, in fact we encourage people not to, so that you can meet and work with some new people. The organisers will put teams together depending on skills. Teams need to be along the lines of: a writer, a producer, a designer and an animator or two. Musicians, comedians, graphic designers and artists are also encouraged to come and cross-pollinate.

You can bring pre-prepared characters and sets, but the script, storyboard and animation must be created over the weekend (preferably at the Animation Centre, FTI or wherever the competition is being held.)

Each team will be randomly allocated three words around which to create their animation. The animation must relate to at least one of the words in some way.

WAM BAM aims to be a fun event for the animation community which also provides the wider industry with a chance to catch all the animators together and see what they can do.

It is an animation challenge and an industry get-together but it is also a competition. Judging of the films will be done by a panel of judges who will look for such elements as: story, style, animation, what you set out to do and what you did achieve etc.

There will also be a popular vote for the best animation. You can't vote for your own! But you can invite your family and friends to the screening. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team.

Copyright of the films created stays with the team that creates them (we suggest each team nominate a producer) but WAnimate retains the right to use the films to help promote WAM BAM, WAnimate and animation in WA.
